  • 1 - whole chicken, cut into 8-10 small pieces
  • 1/2 cup - plain yogurt
  • 3 - Green chillies
  • 1/4 bunch - Coriander leaves
  • 1.5 inch - Ginger
  • 1 - Large Onion
  • Red Chilli flakes or whole chillies
  • 1 tsp - Cumins Powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 cups - Cooked Rice
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Spicy Chicken rice:

    1. Make a paste of green chillies, ginger, and coriander using a blender.
    2. Add the paste to 1/2 cup of yogurt and mix well. Add salt to taste.
    3. Add the well cleaned chicken to the yogurt, mix and keep in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours (for best results, marinate the chicken overnight).
    4. Heat oil and add finely chopped onions. Once the onions turn golden brown, add the dried red chillies (flakes or crushed whole chillies), turmeric and the cumin powder. Cook for 2 mins.
    5. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 30-40 mins. Stir periodically to ensure that the chicken does not burn.
    6. Once the chicken is cooked, add the rice and mix well. Add salt if required.
    7. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
