Ingredients

  • 1 - whole chicken, cut into 8-10 small pieces
  • 1/2 cup - plain yogurt
  • 3 - green chillies
  • 1/4 bunch - Coriander leaves
  • 1.5 inch - Ginger
  • 1 - Large Onion
  • Red chilli flakes or whole chillies
  • 1 tsp - Cumins Powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric Powder
  • 2 cups - Cooked rice
  • salt to taste

How to Make Spicy Chicken rice

  • Make a paste of green chillies, ginger, and coriander using a blender.
  • Add the paste to 1/2 cup of yogurt and mix well. Add salt to taste.
  • Add the well cleaned chicken to the yogurt, mix and keep in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours (for best results, marinate the chicken overnight).
  • Heat oil and add finely chopped onions. Once the onions turn golden brown, add the dried red chillies (flakes or crushed whole chillies), turmeric and the cumin powder. Cook for 2 mins.
  • Add the marinated chicken and cook for 30-40 mins. Stir periodically to ensure that the chicken does not burn.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, add the rice and mix well. Add salt if required.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
