  • 2 cups - Bread flour
  • 1 cup - Yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp - Active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp - Dry herbs (parsley or basil)
  • 1 tsp - Red chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 1 cup - Luke warm water
  • 3 tbsp - Oil
  • Oil for brushing.

How to Make Spicy Cornmeal Buns

  • Mix the yeast, sugar and salt in some lukewarm water. Stir and keep it aside for 5 -6 mins until the yeast turns foamy.
  • Combine the flour, cornmeal, dry herbs and red chilly flakes in a large bowl and add the foaming yeast water and oil and knead into a soft dough.
  • Now arrange the dough in a large greased bowl and keep in a warm place for 2 hours until the dough doubles in volume.
  • Then, punch the doubled dough and knead again.
  • Divide the dough into 6-8 medium sized balls and arrange them in a greased mould. Let it sit for another in a warm place.
  • Now preheat the oven to 350F. Brush the breads with oil and bake in middle rack for 20-25 mins until the crust turns golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven let it cool.
  • Serve with cream cheese, salted butter or with any spread.
