Ingredients

  • Channa dal - 4 tbsp
  • urad dal - 1 tbsp
  • green chillies - 4-5
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
  • Tamarind extract - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - 1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 1 and 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 stalk
  • salt to taste
  • A pinch of sugar

How to Make Spicy Dal Chutney

  • Roast both the dals in 1/2 tsp of oil till light brown.
  • Add chillies and asafoetida and roast for a 1-2 minutes.
  • Mix with salt, sugar, tamarind extract, coriander leaves and grind it in a mixer with some water.
  • Remove in a bowl.
  • Make the seasoning with remaining oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and add to the chutney.
