Ingredients

  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Dhaniya - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Red Chillies - 3
  • Toor Dal - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • salt - to taste
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Onions, finely chopped - 2
  • Tomato, finely cut - 1
  • How to Make Spicy Dal:

    1. Cook tuvar dal in pressure cooker with turmeric powder and keep aside.
    2. In a kadai, put 1 tsp oil and fry dhania, pepper, jeera, red chillies, tuvar dal and urad dal till done.
    3. Add 1/2 cup coconut and grind the fried ingredients (with water) till smooth.
    4. Again, in a kadai, heat two tbsp of oil. Add mustard and jeera. When it splutters, add cut onions, tomato and curry leaves. Let it fry till golden brown.
    5. Add 1/2 cup of water, the ground paste and salt. Let it boil for few seconds.
    6. Add the boiled toor dal and mix well.
    7. Garnish with fresh green coriander leaves.
