Ingredients

  • Channa dal - 2 cups
  • Onions - 1 medium, chopped finely
  • Green chillies - 4 chopped
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Curry leaves - a little
  • Coriander - 1/2 cup chopped
  • Aniseed - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - to deep fry.

How to Make Spicy Masala Vada

  • Soak the channa dal overnight.
  • Then grind it with all the ingredients (except onions) to a coarse paste.
  • Add onions to the paste.
  • Heat oil for deep frying. Shape the mixture into vadas and deep fry till golden brown.
  • Serve hot with chutney.
