  • Rice -1 cup
  • Urad dal- 1 tbsp (3 hrs soaking is needed)
  • Methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar -1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Masala:
  • Onion- 1/2 cup
  • Potato - 1 cup
  • Tomato - 1/4 cup
  • Peas - 1/4 cup
  • Red Chilly -4 ( paste)
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind juice - 1.5 tsp.
  • How to Make Spicy Mysore Masala Dosa:

    1. For the filling:
    2. Heat oil in the tawa and saute the onions, potatoes, tomatoes, peas and the chilly paste.
    3. Now add the tamarind juice, salt and turmeric powder to form a slightly dry masala.
    4. For the dosa:
    5. Soak the rice separately in enough water for 3 hours and drain.
    6. Bend the rice in a mixer till smooth. Remove and keep aside.
    7. Soak the urad dal, fenugreek seeds, beaten rice together in enough water for 3 hours and drain.
    8. Blend the urad dal, fenugreek seeds and beaten rice together in a mixer till smooth and frothy .
    9. Remove and keep aside.
    10. Combine the urad dal paste and rice paste together in a bowl and cover and keep aside to ferment for 3 to 4 hours.
    11. Once the batter is ready, add the sugar and salt to the batter. Mix well.
    12. Heat a non-stick pan, grease it and pour a ladle of the batter on the tawa and spread in a circular motion to make 125 mm (5 inch) thin dosa.
    13. Apply masala on the dosa and add a small amount of butter.
