  • 1 cup - black gram
  • 3/4 cup - Bengal Gram
  • 1/2 cup - gingili seeds
  • 2 cups -red chillies
  • 3 or 4 small pieces - Asafoetida
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - cooking oil

How to Make Spicy Powder for Dosas-Idlis

  • Add a drop of oil, and fry black gram and Bengal gram separately till golden colour.
  • Drop some more drops of oil and fry asafoetida, red chillies accordingly in low flame till crisp.
  • Dry roast gingili seeds, salt. Blend all the roasted ingredients cool and grind to dry powder in a mixie, but slightly coarse.
  • Before serving, add a few drops of oil to powder.
