Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups - Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cups - gram flour
  • 1.5 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 - Turmeric powder
  • 2-3 pinches of Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp each of Cuminutes and Oregano seeds
  • finely chopped coriander
  • 1 tbsp water

How to Make Spicy Roti

  • Knead the ingredients into a slightly stiff dough, and cover with a wet cloth.
  • Break off bits and make small ping pong-sized balls, and roll to 3-4 mm thickness.
  • Roast on griddle (tawa) like you would a phulka.
  • Or, once the brown spots appear, place directly on the flame and puff, with the help of tongs.
  • Apply ghee or butter and serve hot with sweetened mango preserve (chunda), curds or jam.
