Ingredients

  • 2 tsp - urad dal
  • 1/2 cup - split green gram (moong dal)
  • Spinach (palak)
  • 1/2 cup - masoor dal
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 4 - red chillies
  • 10 - pepper
  • salt
  • 1 pinch - haldi
  • 1 tsp - mustard seed
  • curry leaves

How to Make Spinach Kootu

  • Soak 1/2 cup of masoor dal and moong dal each for 2 hours.
  • Boil it with salt and haldi.
  • Wash spinach, cut into small pieces and boil it separately. Add in the dal.
  • Fry in 1 tbsp oil, 2 tsp urad dal, 4 red chillies, 10 pepper. And grind with coconut. Add this to the dal.
  • Season with mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Can be eaten with rice and papad.
