Ingredients

  • 1 bunch - Spinach chopped
  • 1 medium - Onion chopped
  • 1 medium - Tomato chopped
  • 3 - Green chillies chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 2 cups - water
  • 1 tsp - sambar powder
  • 1/2 cup - boiled mung bean
  • 1-2 stems - Curry leaves
  • safoetida (a pinch)
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Spinach Sambar:

    1. Splutter mustard seeds, add green chillies, onions, chopped tomato, asafoetida and fry for a few minutes.
    2. Add spinach and fry till raw smell goes off.
    3. Now add around 2 cups of water, the tamarind paste,sambhar powder, salt and curry leaves.
    4. Finally, add the boiled moong bean. Bring it to boil for 10-15 minutes.
    5. Serve hot.
