Ingredients

  • 1 pack - frozen chopped Spinach
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tbsp - Rice flour
  • 2.5 cups - water
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • For seasoning:
  • 1/2 tsp -fenugreek
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 2 - Red Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - oil
  • For garnish:
  • 1 tbsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp - oil.
  • How to Make Spinach Stew:

    1. Cook the frozen spinach in a microwave as per directions on the pack for 4 minutes, stir it with a fork and cook for 4 more minutes.
    2. Heat oil in a thick deep vessel and splutter asafoetida, fenugreek, mustard seeds, red chillies.
    3. Add the sliced green chillies and let it fry for about 10 seconds. Add the cooked spinach and leave it on medium fire for a couple of minutes.
    4. Pour the water into the pan and add in the tamarind paste and turmeric.
    5. Add salt to taste. Let it boil for a couple of minutes.
    6. Mix the rice flour in some water to get a watery consistency and add it to the stew. This helps to thicken the stew a little bit.
    7. Remove from fire after a while.
