Ingredients

  • 125 gms - Maida
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 4 - eggs
  • 125 gms - powdered Sugar
  • 50 ml - oil
  • 2 tsp - vanilla essence
  • How to Make Sponge Cake with Oil:

    1. Grease a 9-inch baking dish with 1 tsp of butter and dust it with 1 tbsp of flour.
    2. Sieve the flour and baking powder thrice.
    3. Preheat oven at 180 degrees C.
    4. Separate the egg white and egg yolk and place it separately in 2 wide bowls.
    5. Beat the egg white with powdered sugar using a beater until it is very smooth.
    6. Beat egg yolk with oil and vanilla essence until it is creamy.
    7. In this mixture, gently add egg white mixture and sieved flour in batches of three.
    8. Mix it gently with a thick steel ladle. Now the cake batter is creamy and medium thick in consistency.
    9. Transfer this cake mixture into a greased and dusted baking pan.
    10. Spread it evenly with a flat spatula and bake at 180 degrees C for 30 - 35 minutes or till it is golden brown in colour.
    11. Remove it from the oven and set it aside to cool for 15 minutes.
    12. Run a knife round the inside of the pan to loosen the cake and then invert the pan.
    13. Set it aside to cool on a wire rack for half-an-hour and later cut it into desired shapes and sizes.
