  • 125 gms - maida
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 4 - eggs
  • 125 gms - powdered sugar
  • 50 ml - oil
  • 2 tsp - vanilla essence

How to Make Sponge Cake with Oil

  • Grease a 9-inch baking dish with 1 tsp of butter and dust it with 1 tbsp of flour.
  • Sieve the flour and baking powder thrice.
  • Preheat oven at 180 degrees C.
  • Separate the egg white and egg yolk and place it separately in 2 wide bowls.
  • Beat the egg white with powdered sugar using a beater until it is very smooth.
  • Beat egg yolk with oil and vanilla essence until it is creamy.
  • In this mixture, gently add egg white mixture and sieved flour in batches of three.
  • Mix it gently with a thick steel ladle. Now the cake batter is creamy and medium thick in consistency.
  • Transfer this cake mixture into a greased and dusted baking pan.
  • Spread it evenly with a flat spatula and bake at 180 degrees C for 30 - 35 minutes or till it is golden brown in colour.
  • Remove it from the oven and set it aside to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Run a knife round the inside of the pan to loosen the cake and then invert the pan.
  • Set it aside to cool on a wire rack for half-an-hour and later cut it into desired shapes and sizes.
