Ingredients

  • For sponge:
  • 4 - eggs
  • 4 tbsp - Maida
  • 6 tbsp - sugar
  • For chocolate sauce:
  • 2 - egg yolks
  • 6 tbsp - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - water
  • 6/8 tbsp - cocoa powder
  • 1/2 slab - chocolate
  • 2tbsp - butter
  • A few walnuts

How to Make Sponge In Chocolate Sauce

  • To make sponge: Whisk eggs and sugar until thick.
  • Lightly stir in the flour.
  • Grease a cake tin.
  • Pour the mixture and bake at 200 C for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • To make chocolate sauce:
  • Put water and sugar in a saucepan and dissolve sugar gradually on slow heat. Then boil syrup to 1/2 thread consistency.
  • Beat egg yolks till creamy.
  • Cool the syrup and pour over the beaten egg yolks.
  • Now cook in double boiler till it is thick. Add the cocoa powder and creamed butter.
  • Remove from double boiler and whisk till cool.
  • Cut cake in 3 layers.
  • Layer with sauce in between.
  • Garnish with walnuts and chocolate curls. Chill.
