How to Make Spring Onion Kootu

  • Boil tuvar dal with 2 cups of water in a cooker (till you hear two whistles).
  • After it lets out steam, open the cooker and add chopped spring onions, chopped onion, sliced tomato, salt, sugar, kulambu podi. Close lid and boil till you hear 1 more whistle.
  • Open the cooker after it lets out steam. Now pour 3 tsps oil in a kadai and add kadugu, urud dal and red chilli.
  • Add this to the spring onion kootu and mix.
  • If it is too thick, add some water.
  • Eat hot, mixed with rice.
