  • 350 gms - whole Wheat flour
  • 155 ml - warm water
  • 3 tbsp - grated Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - finely chopped Onion
  • 1 - green chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - chopped Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • Ghee
  • How to Make Sri Lankan Pol Rotis:

    1. Combine the flour, grated coconut, chopped onion, green chilli, curry leaves and salt together and knead it into a soft and pliable dough adding sufficient water to it.
    2. Add 1 tsp of oil and knead it again till the dough is smooth and elastic.
    3. Cover and keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
    4. Divide the dough into 7-8 equal parts.
    5. Use a little flour to roll each portion into circles of approximately 150 mm diameter.
    6. Dust off any excess dry flour and place the roti on a hot non-stick frying pan.
    7. Turn it over in a few seconds and cook the other side till the edges begin to curl slightly and small blisters appear on the surface.
    8. Cook the other side for a few more seconds till it is golden in color and brown spots start to appear.
    9. Apply 1/2 tsp of oil on both sides. Serve it with any gravy of your choice.
