  • Eggs - 8
  • Grated jaggery or brown sugar - 2 cup
  • Thick coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Nutmeg powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted cashew nuts - 2 tbsp, finely chopped

How to Make Sri Lankan Watalapam

  • Dissolve jaggery or brown sugar in coconut milk.
  • Beat eggs lightly and mix with sweet coconut milk.
  • Strain the mixture through a thin cloth.
  • Stir in the nutmeg and cardamom powders.
  • Pour the mixture in a pudding mould.
  • Cover the mould with a lid and place in simmering water.
  • Cook the pudding in this for 30 minutes.
  • Open the lid and sprinkle cashew nuts on top.
  • Cover again and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Serve warm or chilled from the mould.
