  • 1 cup - broken wheat
  • 1/2 cup - water
  • 3/4th cup - grated coconut
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup - melted and sieved jaggery
  • 1/4 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tsp - oil

How to Make Steamed Broken Wheat Sweet

  • Soak broken wheat in 1/2 cup of water for 2 hours.
  • Make a smooth paste of grated coconut in a small mixer bowl.
  • Sprinkle 1 - 2 tbsp of water when making the paste.
  • In a bowl, mix together soaked broken wheat, coconut paste and jaggery. Do not add extra water to it.
  • Grease a steel thali with 1/2 tsp of oil.
  • Pour this broken wheat-jaggery-coconut mixture and steam cook it in a steamer or pressure cooker for 20 - 25 minutes until it is done.
  • Remove it and set it aside to cool for half-an-hour.
  • Cut it into desired shapes and sizes.
