  • Raw Rice - 1 cup
  • Parboiled Rice - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Grated Coconut - 2 cups
  • Powdered Jaggery - 1.5 cups
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil/ghee to grease
  • How to Make Steamed Pooran Wada:

    1. Soak raw rice and parboiled rice together for 3 hours.
    2. Drain and spread on a cloth till almost dry.
    3. Grind it to a fine powder.
    4. Knead it with salt and water to form a thick dough that can be rolled into balls.
    5. Combine grated coconut with jaggery powder and cardamom powder.
    6. Make small balls of the rice mixture.
    7. Flatten them into disc shape (with fingers) on a greased plastic sheet.
    8. Grease a plate and place the discs on it.
    9. Place some coconut filling over each of the discs. Cover with the another disc. Press the edges lightly to seal.
    10. Steam the plate with the discs for 5-7 mins.
    11. Serve hot with melted ghee.
