Ingredients

  • one and a half kg -stawberries, wiped and hulled
  • 2 Lemons
  • 6 cups - (900gms) Sugar
  • 8-10 drops Strawberry red colour (optional)

How to Make Strawberry Jam

  • Extract juice of lemons.
  • Tie rind and put in a muslin bag.
  • Chop strawberries coarsely.
  • Put in a large cooking pan.
  • Add in juice and rind bag.
  • Heat till juice runs.
  • Simmer till fruit is tender.
  • Add sugar, stir to dissolve.
  • Add colour. Mix.
  • Boil on high till setting point is reached.
  • Check with plate or spoon test.
  • Pour while hot into sterile jars.
  • Cool and seal shut.
