  • 2 - apples (about 1/2 kg)
  • 2 tbsp - chopped nuts, Raisins etc.
  • 1 tbsp - castor Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Butter
  • For the meringue:
  • 1 - Egg white
  • 1 tbsp - castor Sugar
  • Thin Sugar syrup or unsweetened fruit juice to bake the apples
  • How to Make Stuffed apples with meringue:

    1. Peel the apples and remove the lid by slicing horizontally from the top.
    2. Make a hollow by scooping out seeds and pulp with the help of a knife.
    3. Arrange apples in a deep dish with hollow side up.
    4. Mix together nuts and sugar and fill the cavity of each apple with the mixture.
    5. Dot the lids of the apples with butter.
    6. Pour sugar syrup or fruit juice in the dish to a depth of half inch and cover and bake in a microwave oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes or till tender..
    7. Remove from oven and cool.
    8. Beat together egg white until frothy. Gradually beat in castor sugar, beat till rounded peaks are formed.
    9. Pile this meringue on the apples and bake at 180 degree C for 10-15 minutes or until meringue is delicately browned.
