1 cup butter, softened
1.5 cups - sugar
2 tsp - cream of tartar
1 tsp - baking soda
1/4 tsp - salt
1 tsp - pure vanilla extract
2.75 cups - all-purpose flour
1/3 cup - sugar
How to Make Sugar Cookie
In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer at medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
Add 1.5 cups of sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of the bowl occasionally.
Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer.
Using a wooden spoon, stir in any remaining flour.
Cover and chill in refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours or until dough is easy to handle.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in sugar.
Place balls about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven 7-8 mins or until edges are lightly browned.
Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
