  • 1 cup (minus 2 tbsp) - semolina
  • 2 tbsp - wheat flour
  • 1 cup - sugar or more as per later
  • 3 cups - water
  • ½ cup - ghee
  • few strands saffron
  • 10 to 12 almonds (finely sliced)

How to Make Suji Ka Halwa

  • Put the ghee into a large microwave-safe, flat-bottomed dish. Microwave at 100% power for 3 mins.
  • While the ghee is warming, dry roast the semolina flour in a kadai.
  • Keep tossing and stirring till it is golden brown and aromatic.
  • Simultaneously, put the sugar, saffron and water in a pan and bring to boil.
  • Once the ghee is heated, add the roasted semolina and flour, stir and cook at the same power level for 1 minute.
  • Now take the dish out of the microwave, stirring constantly, pour in the sugar syrup.
  • Keep the dish in the microwave and cook for 4 mins, uncovered, stirring after every minute.
  • Let it stand for 2 mins before serving into a pouring dish and garnishing with sliced almonds.
