Ingredients

  • 3/4th kg - finely minced Meat
  • 2 cups - Milk
  • 1.25 cups - breadcrumbs
  • 3/4th cup - Cream cheese
  • 1/4th cup - finely minced Onions
  • 1/4 cup - Milk
  • 1/2 tsp - ground Nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 1 - beaten egg, salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp - flour
  • salt, pepper and mustard
  • How to Make Swedish Meat Balls:

    1. Combine minced meat, cream cheese, finely chopped onions, nutmeg, breadcrumbs, milk, lemon juice, beaten egg, salt and pepper to taste.
    2. Shape meat mixture into balls (approx 36).
    3. Fry in oil until brown, on a low flame so that they cook through.
    4. Remove meat balls to a casserole dish.
    5. Drain off excess oil, leaving about 2 tbsps. in the frying pan.
    6. Add 2 tbsps. flour and fry lightly.
    7. Add 2 cups milk and cook until slightly thick.
    8. Add salt, pepper and mustard.
    9. Pour sauce over meat balls, place in oven for 15 mins at 180 degrees C.
    10. Serve hot with rice.
