Ingredients

  • 3/4th kg - finely minced meat
  • 2 cups - milk
  • 1.25 cups - breadcrumbs
  • 3/4th cup - cream cheese
  • 1/4th cup - finely minced onions
  • 1/4 cup - milk
  • 1/2 tsp - ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp - lemon juice
  • 1 - beaten egg, salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp - flour
  • salt, pepper and mustard

How to Make Swedish Meat Balls

  • Combine minced meat, cream cheese, finely chopped onions, nutmeg, breadcrumbs, milk, lemon juice, beaten egg, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Shape meat mixture into balls (approx 36).
  • Fry in oil until brown, on a low flame so that they cook through.
  • Remove meat balls to a casserole dish.
  • Drain off excess oil, leaving about 2 tbsps. in the frying pan.
  • Add 2 tbsps. flour and fry lightly.
  • Add 2 cups milk and cook until slightly thick.
  • Add salt, pepper and mustard.
  • Pour sauce over meat balls, place in oven for 15 mins at 180 degrees C.
  • Serve hot with rice.
