Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - basmati rice
  • 1/3 cup - sugar
  • 2 - cloves
  • 1 tbsp - ghee
  • 4 - chopped almonds
  • a few strands of saffron
  • a pinch of cardamom
  • 1/3 cup - coconut
  • 1 tbsp - condensed milk (optional)

How to Make Sweet Coconut Rice

  • Soak the rice in water for 15 minutes.
  • Heat ghee, roast the almonds in it and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the rinsed rice and fry for a minute.
  • Add 1 cup of water, cardamom, coconut, saffron, cloves and bring the mixture to boil.
  • Simmer and cover with a lid. Cook until the rice is 90% done (approximately 10 minutes).
  • Add sugar and condensed milk and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Garnish with the roasted nuts.
