Ingredients

  • 2 cup - raw rice
  • 1 cup - thick poha
  • 1 cup - grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup - jaggery powder
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 2 tbsp - curds
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 2 tbsp - raisins
  • 2 tbsp - cashew nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - cardamom powder

How to Make Sweet Idly

  • Wash and soak rice in water for 2 hours. Soak poha for 15-20 mins.
  • Drain the rice from water. Grind with poha, coconut and milk to a slightly coarse consistency, like idli batter.
  • Add jaggery, salt and grind till jaggery is dissolved (do not add much water as the batter becomes thin when jaggery is added).
  • Cover and leave to ferment over night.
  • Next morning, mix in the raisins, cashewnuts and cardamom.
  • Steam like idlis. Serve hot with melted ghee.
