Soak rice in water for 30 mins; drain water and grind it to a powder in a mixer. Heat the pan and fry the rice flour till it turns red in colour and keep aside. Dry fry the moong dal in a pan till it gives out a good aroma.
Add water to cook the dal and allow it to cook for 5 mins.
After 5 mins, add 2 cups of water and add grated jaggery and stir it well till the jaggery dissolves in water.
Now add the roasted rice flour and mix it evenly.
At last add cardamom powder, grated coconut and stir well.
Allow the mixture to cool and then press into desired shapes (or as shown in the picture).
Steam cook the dough in an idli maker.
