How to Make Sweet Whole Moong Dal Kozhukattai

  • Boil water with salt and oil.
  • Slowly add the rice flour and mix it continuously with a spatula. Turn off the heat, close the vessel with a lid and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • Wet your hands and mix the dough well. Make medium sized balls from the cooked rice dough.
  • Meanwhile, take the jaggery in a pan, add a quarter cup of water, bring everything to boil.
  • Strain this jaggery syrup and reheat along with the mashed whole moong dal, cardamom powder and grated coconut. Cook everything on medium flame.
  • When the mixture turns thick, turn off the stove and let it cool completely.
  • Make medium sized balls with this filling and keep aside.
  • Grease your fingers and flatten the rice balls into small poori shapes.
  • Place the whole moong dal filling in the centre and seal the edges together, rolling it up into round balls.
  • Steam cook the kozhukattais for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
