How to Make Tahiree

  • Lightly heat ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel.
  • Add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamoms and peppercorns. Saute for few seconds.
  • Add the onions and saute on a medium flame till light brown.
  • Add the green chillies, ginger and garlic. Saute for couple of minutes.
  • Add the tomatoes, mint leaves, coriander leaves and the powdered spices.
  • Cook on a medium flame for five minutes.
  • Add the vegetables and saute on a low flame till ghee separates.
  • Add rice and mix gently. Add sufficient water.
  • Cover with a lid and cook on a low flame.
  • Mix gently at regular intervals.
  • Cook till the rice is done. Serve hot.
