Ingredients

  • 3 cups rice
  • 1/2 - onion
  • 1 cup - tamarind juice
  • 3 tsp - grated coconut
  • 1 tsp - turmeric
  • 3 to 4 - red dry chilly
  • 4 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 4 to 5 - spring curry leaves
  • 2 tsp - groundnut
  • 2 tsp - channa dal
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1 flake - garlic
  • salt to taste
  • Jaggery - to taste

How to Make Tamarind Gojjanna

  • Cook rice and keep aside.
  • Take a kadai, heat oil. Add mustard and pop it. Add curry leaves, onion, groundnut, channa dal, urad dal, garlic, red chilli and fry them to light brown.
  • Add the tamarind juice, turmeric, jaggery and chilli powder (according to taste). Add salt to taste.
  • Cook for 10-15 mins until it thickens (semi-liquid) and then let it cool.
  • Take the cooked rice and spread it on a plate. Let it cool for about 5 mins.
  • Then add the goju (the paste). Mix well along with the grated coconut.
