Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - thick tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 cup - jaggery, grated
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds, crushed
  • 1 - green chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup - onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 pinches - black salt, powdered
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Tamarind Onion Dip

  • Put tamarind and jaggery in a deep heavy saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  • Add all powders, salt, mix well.
  • When mixture is thick, take off fire.
  • When cooled to room temperature, transfer to a glass serving bowl.
  • Add onions, coriander and chilli. Mix well.
  • Serve cold with bhajias, pakoras, kachori, etc.
