  • 1 - small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp - clear honey
  • 1 - clove garlic, crushed
  • 3 tbsp - corn oil
  • 3 tbsp - tomato ketchup (sauce)
  • 1 tbsp - tomato puree (paste)
  • 2 tsp -Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp - chilli sauce
  • 2 pinches of five-spice powder
  • 8 - chicken pieces
  • Slice of lemon and thin slices of onion rings to garnish

How to Make Tangy Chicken

  • In a small saucepan, mix together onion, honey, garlic, 2 tbsps oil, tomato ketchup and puree.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, chilli sauce and five-spice powder and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Blend mixture to a smooth puree in a blender or food processor. Add remaining oil and stir well.
  • Arrange chicken drumsticks in a roasting tin. Brush with marinade and leave to marinate for 1 hour.
  • Reheat oven to 200 degrees C. Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes, turning and brushing frequently with marinade juices. Serve hot or cold, garnished with cress and lemon slices.
