Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - tuar dal
  • 1/2 cup - Tamarind pulp (thick)
  • 2-3 cups - vegetable pieces (carrot, water gourd, drumstick, yellow cucumber, sweet potato)
  • Onion - optional
  • 4-5 leaves - curry leaf
  • Coriander
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar
  • For soup powder:
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 2 tsp - Coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Methi seeds
  • 6 - red chillies, roast without oil and grind them well
  • How to Make Tangy Mixed Vegetable Soup:

    1. Cook the vegetable pieces and dal separately (pressure cooking is optional).
    2. Add cooked dal, vegetables and tamarind pulp and add 2 cups water and bring to a boil.
    3. Add turmeric power and 3 tsps. of above said soup powder.
    4. Then add salt, sugar and garnish with coriander and curry leaves.
    5. Now, for seasoning, in a little ghee, fry 1 red chilli, rai, jeera seeds and add to the vegetable soup.
