Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - Small Onions/madras Onions
  • 1 cup - Tamarind juice
  • 2 tsp - Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Chopped Garlic
  • 1 tsp - Chopped Ginger
  • 1-2 sprigs - Curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Oil
  • 1 tsp - Cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp -Sugar.
  • How to Make Tangy Onion Curry:

    1. Peel the onions and soak in a bowl of water.
    2. Heat oil to a pan, add the curry leaves, ginger, garlic and saute for a few minutes.
    3. Add the small onions, chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and fry 4-5 mins.
    4. Now add the salt, sugar and tamarind juice. Simmer on low heat until the onions are tender and the gravy thickens.
    5. Serve with rice or chapattis.
