How to Make Tangy Tomato Rasam

  • Boil the tomatoes in the microwave till very soft (for 6-7 mins). Allow to cool.
  • Peel off skin and add some water and smash well.
  • Extract only the tomato juice, leaving just the pulp behind.
  • Try to extract as much juice as possible.
  • Heat 3-4 spoons of butter in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, crushed pepper, chopped garlic and onions.
  • Fry till soft.
  • Now add the tomato juice.
  • Add rasam powder, tamarind powder and salt.
  • Allow to boil.
  • Finally, add chopped coriander and remove from flame.
  • Serve with hot rice and pappads.
  • Or can also be served as an appetizer.
