Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - basmati Rice
  • 1/2 cup - plain Rice
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 2 - onions, chopped
  • 1 - tomato, chopped
  • 1 - Garlic
  • 1 inch - Ginger
  • 2 - Tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp- Poppy Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Dhania powder
  • 1 inch stick - Cinnamon
  • 5 - Cloves
  • 1 tsp - Ghee (optional)
  • 3 to 4 tsp - grated fresh Coconut
  • 1/2 cup- peas
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Tangy Tomato Rice:

    1. Soak rice in water for half an hour.
    2. Make a smooth puree of coconut, ginger, garlic, poppy seeds, dhania powder, cinnamon, cloves and tomatoes.
    3. Take oil in a pressure cooker, fry the chopped onions for 2 mins.
    4. Add chopped tomatoes and saute it for 2-3 mins.
    5. Add peas and add puree from step 2, let it fry for few more minutes.
    6. Now add the rice, salt, red chilli powder and 2 cups of water.
    7. Close the lid of the pressure cooker, after one whistle turn off the stove.
    8. Wait for the pressure cooker to cool down.
    9. Now remove the lid, the tomato bath is ready to serve.
    10. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
