  • Tomato - 1 kg
  • Chilly powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - A little
  • Sesame oil - 1 small cup
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

How to Make Tangy Tomato Thokku

  • First wash the tomatoes and boil very well till the skin gets peeled (takes nearly 45 mins).
  • When done, allow it to cool and grind it in a mixie.
  • In a pan, pour the oil and put fenugreek and mustard seeds along with asafoetida. When it all sputters, put the grinded tomato paste.
  • When it starts boiling, add the chilli powder.
  • Boil it for further 30-45 mins until the colour of the thokku becomes dark and the oil floats.
