How to Make Tasty Tamarind Rice

  • Wash the rice, add water and cook till done.
  • Add salt to taste, sugar and turmeric powder to tamarind pulp. Heat in a pan on low flame till a nice paste is formed.
  • Add tamarind paste to cooked rice.
  • Grind 1 tsp mustard seeds and sesame seeds to a thick paste.
  • Chop ginger and green chillies finely.
  • Heat oil and add red chillies, 1 tsp mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal and peanuts. Saute for 2-3 mins till dals turn brown.
  • Add chopped ginger and chillies. Stir-fry for a minute.
  • Add paste of mustard seeds and sesame seeds.
  • Then add all these to rice with butter. Mix well and serve.
