  • 1 1/2 cups - semolina
  • 1 1/2 cups - coconut milk
  • 3/4 cup - finely ground jaggery
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 tbsps - water
  • a pinch of salt
  • handful split almonds or cashewnuts
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder

How to Make Thali Sweet

  • Heat 2 tbsps. of ghee and fry semolina to a golden brown colour.
  • Peel and mash the bananas and mix with semolina and the rest of the above ingredients with the exception of almonds.
  • Spread the mixture in a greased thali and decorate with split almonds.
  • Steam for about 20 mins. or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  • Cut into neat little cubes with a sharp knife. You can serve it either hot or cold.
