Ingredients

  • 2 tsp - dhaniya
  • 2 tsp - besan
  • 8 - Red Chilli
  • 2 tsp - Coconut
  • safoetida, a pinch
  • 2 cups - Tamarind extract
  • Jaggery, a chunk
  • 1 cup - snake gourd/cluster beans

How to Make Thani kootu

  • Extract and boil tamarind for 10 mins.
  • Roast chilli, dhania, besan, coconut in some oil and grind to a paste. Add to tamarind extract.
  • Let it boil for some time. After it boils, add jaggery. Allow it to thicken.
  • Boil the vegetable until tender and add it to the gravy.
  • Add some fried coconut. Season with mustard.
  • Add curry leaves and serve hot.
