Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Besan / Kadalai Maavu
  • 1/2 cup - Rice flour
  • 2 - Onions
  • 1 tsp - Butter/ Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp - Cooking soda
  • 1/2 tsp - Grated ginger
  • 1 - Green Chilli
  • Curry leaves- 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves - 1 small bunch
  • Oil to Deep Fried
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Thool pakoda - Onion Pakoda

  • Thinly slice the onions.
  • Mix the rice flour and besan (gram flour) in a wide bowl.
  • Crush the green chilly in a pestle.
  • Then combine the salt, sliced onions, grated ginger, crushed green chilly, curry leaves and coriander leaves and ghee/butter and mix well.
  • Keep aside for 10 mins.
  • Now heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
  • Then sprinkle a portion of the mixture onto the oil on a medium fire until golden brown.
  • Drain in the kitchen towel and repeat for the rest of the mixture.
  • Serve with tea/coffee.
