Ingredients

  • 250 gms - white sesame (Til)
  • 200 gms - light molasses (jaggery)
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee

How to Make Tilvadi

  • Lightly roast sesame in a dry pan for 2 mins.
  • Grate or mash jaggery to break down.
  • Heat jaggery and ghee in a large heavy pan.
  • Stirring gently, bring to a light boil.
  • Add sesame, take off fire.
  • Mix well with a strong spatula.
  • Pour onto a lightly greased work surface.
  • Knead a little with greased palms.
  • Roll to 3/4 inch thickness or more if desired.
  • Mark out squares of 1x 1 with a sharp knife.
  • Cool completely.
  • Break and store in airtight container.
