How to Make Tomato and Onion Chutney

  • Chop onion and tomatoes into big pieces.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil. Fry urad dal till light brown. Remove from oil. Let it cool.
  • Coarsely powder in mixer without water. Let it remain in the mixer.
  • In the same oil, fry onion till translucent and not brown.
  • Remove into the mixer and cool. Grind dal and onion coarsely.
  • In the same oil, fry tomatoes and chilli till they are half-cooked. Cool and add in the mixer.
  • Grind all three together coarsely. Add salt.
  • Heat 1 tsp oil. Season with mustard seeds and pour over chutney.
