Ingredients

  • 4 - onion (long cut)
  • 3 - tomato (cubes)
  • 4-5 tbsp - oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - sugar
  • turmeric powder a pinch
  • 1/4 tbsp - mustard seeds
  • coriander leaves
  • To roast and powder:
  • 4 - red chillies
  • 2 tbsp - coriander seeds
  • 1/4 tbsp - black pepper
  • 1 tbsp - urad dal
  • 1 tbsp - channa dal
  • 1 tbsp - jeera

How to Make Tomato-Onion Curry

  • Heat oil and add mustard seeds to it.
  • Add the onion to it after the mustard seeds splutters.
  • Continue frying till the onions are golden brown.
  • Add tomatoes and fry for another 5 mins.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder, salt (as required), sugar, powdered masala and cook until raw smell disappears.
  • Arrange on a serving dish and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • This curry goes well with chapattis, puris and naans.
