  • Toor dal- 1 cup
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • A few curry leaves
  • Oil - 2 tbsps
  • Garlic pods - 4

How to Make Toor Dal Chutney with garlic

  • Dry roast toor dal in a kadai till golden brown.
  • Heat oil in a pan to make the tempering.
  • Add red chillies, urad dal and jeera to the pan. Fry till golden brown.
  • Add curry leaves and garlic pods. Give it a stir for a few seconds.
  • Grind roasted tuvar dal with little water, grated coconut and the tempering.
  • Serve with dosas or idlis.
