Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - toor dal
  • 1/2 - onion, cut
  • 1 - tomato, cut
  • 1 tsp - rasam powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - sugar
  • 1/4 cup - lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • Little turmeric powder
  • 4 tsp - coconut powder
  • Coriander leaves
  • For seasoning:
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard and cumin seeds

How to Make Toor dal Rasam

  • Pressure cook tuvar dal with a little water and turmeric powder. Take a vessel, add oil.
  • When it heats up, add urad dal.
  • When the dal turns golden brown, add cumin and mustard seeds.
  • When they pop up, add onion, tomato, rasam powder, chilli powder, sugar, lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, coconut powder and the cooked tuvar dal.
  • Finally add 4 cups of water. Mix them well.
  • Bring it to boil, then add coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice.
