Ingredients

  • 115 gms (1/2 cup) - warm milk (approx 60 degrees C)
  • 1.5 tsp - dry yeast
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 400 gms - flour
  • 2 tbsp - sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 2 - large eggs
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • Butter
  • Icing sugar

How to Make Traditional Donuts

  • Stir milk, yeast and 1 tsp of sugar and let batter rise for 5 mins.
  • Put the flour, sugar and salt into a mixing bowl and add the yeast mix, eggs and oil.
  • Stir all of it thoroughly.  Cover the batter and let it rise for 30 mins.
  • The donut moulds may be greased with cooking oil.
  • Stir all ingredients thoroughly until the batter is smooth.
  • Preheat the donut making appliance for 5 mins.
  • Fill in one level tbsp of batter per donut mould and close appliance.
  • Baking time will be 30 mins or until the desired degree of brownness has been achieved.
  • Take finished donuts from the mould and use up remaining batter in the same way.
