Ingredients

  • 1 cup - cooked rice
  • 2 tbsp - lemon juice
  • Salt
  • For tempering : 2 tbsp - sesame oil
  • 4 tbsp - groundnuts/ cashewnuts
  • 4-5 - red chillies
  • 3-4 - green chillies (chopped)
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 bunch - fresh basil leaves (chopped)

How to Make Traditional lemon rice

  • Heat 1 tbs of oil in a pan.
  • Add the nuts and fry till golden brown. Add the red and green chillies. Add turmeric. Saute.
  • Add the basil leaves and saute (reserve some leaves for garnish).
  • Turn off heat. Let it cool.
  • Add the lime juice. Add the rice in small quantities and mix it in.
  • Add the rest of the oil and mix.
