Ingredients

  • 500 g - Maida
  • 225 g - Butter or margarine or Ghee
  • 225 g - fine Sugar
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • A little vanilla essence or elaichi powder

How to Make Traditional Nankaties

  • Cream the butter till it becomes light and frothy, either with a wooden spoon or using fingers.
  • Add sugar, a handful at a time, and go on creaming till the sugar has melted.
  • When the mixture becomes light and frothy, add the flour, a tsp at a time, till it is well mixed.
  • Form balls, press and place on a baking tray an inch apart.
  • Bake for approx 12 minutes in an oven at 350 degree F.
  • Ensure it does not burn.
