  • Tomatoes - 5 to 6
  • Red chillies - 3 to 4 (according to your taste)
  • Chana dal - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Rai - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Methi - 1 tsp
  • Tamarind - lemon size
  • Oil
  • For seasoning:
  • Oil
  • Rai
  • Hing

How to Make Traditional Tomato Chutney

  • Take oil in a pan.
  • Put rai, jeera, meethi, channa dal, urad dal and red chillies.
  • Later, put in tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • Put salt and tamarind. Let it cool.
  • Later, grind the whole into paste. Season it with rai and hing.
  • Enjoy it with idlis, dosas and rice.
