  • 1kg - Tomato
  • 150g - Green chillies
  • 500g - Onions
  • 150g - Ginger
  • 50g -garlic
  • 50g - Urad Dal
  • 24g - Red Chillies
  • 2 tbsp - Tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 250g - oil
  • How to Make Traditional Tomato pickle:

    1. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a pan. Add urad, red chillies, ginger and garlic. Saute for a minute.
    2. Add diced tomatoes, onions and green chillies. Cook till they soften to a pulp. Sprinkle water to aid in this.
    3. Once it is of pulpy consistency, add tamarind paste, salt and give it a stir. Cook for a minute.
    4. Take off heat. Cool and pour into jar. Add the remaining oil. Stir. Bottle.
    5. Serve with rice.
